10 Focal lengths and different viewpoints

These large metal rings are in a park in the Melbourne CBD. Equipment used Canon digital compact. Shot taken above the park area, when I had the idea for the rings as a subject:

The first image was taken with the zoom lens set to 29.9mm (170mm full frame equivalent). The second image was taken with the lens set to 5.0mm (28mm full frame equivalent).

As you can see, even though I walked a straight line between the two shots (see red bollards and the ring in the same position in the background of both images) there is a considerable change in the perspective between the images.
