15 Positioning a point

These images were taken in the Bay near Brighton with one of the many yachts that comes in and out of the local Marina. This exercise is to explore placing a point at different positions in the frame. Equipment used Nikon DSLR and 28-300 lens.

Image 1 – Yatch bottom left on the very bottom edge of the frame. This composition gives a feeling of isolation to the subject.


Image 2 – Yacht is placed in the dead centre of the image, deliberately static with no sense of movement, wind and isolation.


Image 3 – Now the yacht is placed top right in the image, with a lot of water in the foreground. This shot to me gives a more balanced sense of space and movement.
